IRIS Abandon Email
- Tony Browne (Unlicensed)
The Abandon Email feature can be used to re-engage customers that have abandoned the IRIS promotional page. To ensure delivery, IRIS uses Momentum to send abandon emails.
Abandon emails will not be sent if any of the following conditions are being met:
- If the Effort has no abandon email set
- If the email placeholder is not being used properly
- If the email address has previously received an abandon email from the current effort
- If the email address has already been logged as visiting the order page for the selected item
Since your normal email address is almost always blocked from receiving abandons by one of those criteria, we recommend using a temporary email service to make a fresh email address that you are sure has never received an abandon email or visited the order form for your item before.
Please remember to place an unsubscribe link in all of your abandon email creatives. Any email considered “commercial” (i.e. asks for money) that is delivered without an unsubscribe link can subject the offending organization to a fine of $42,000 USD, per email. The link will unsubscribe the customer from receiving any abandon email associated with the specific item. When a customer clicks the link, a flag is produced in IRIS indicating that the customer shouldn’t receive any abandon emails. The unsubscribe link will only unsubscribe customers from abandon emails, it will not unsubscribe customers from Message Central mailings from the associated list.
To utilize the abandon email feature, you must be mailing internally through Message Central.
Please note: IRIS uses MC to get a customers email address but uses Momentum to actually send the email.
