Sales and Revenue - Thoughtspot

Overview of sales and revenue data set.

Sales and Revenue Dataset

This dataset is geared towards executives, publishers, marketing managers, or anyone responsible and/or interested in revenue streams. It offers a high-level overview of revenue, refund trends, and cash flow metrics.

Noteworthy features include the ability to analyze both batch and gross revenue, as well as evaluate the effectiveness of promotions on a cash flow basis. Use this dataset as a benchmark to assess current revenue performance in comparison to past periods, pinpoint primary revenue drivers, and troubleshoot any identified issues.

  • Securely segmented by affiliates; therefore, users can only view their data.

  • Excludes any advertising costs

  • Batch data is sourced from OSM

  • Gross data is sourced from Circbase

  • Refreshed every two hours

Using this Dataset

Best used for:

  • Evaluating gross orders (paid) vs batch orders (raw demand)

  • Analyzing internal revenue distribution among departments

  • Calculating Royalty Reporting, Calculating Telesales Commissions, Calculating Customer Service Commissions

  • Understanding Cash Flow including refunds

Key Considerations:

  • Revenue is denoted in local currency by default, unless explicitly indicated as USD, signifying a conversion has taken place.

  • Unless otherwise stated, revenue amounts include freight and exclude tax (which is consistent with most of our existing revenue reporting). Tax and freight are available as individual measures and we also have an option that excludes both, so there is flexibility

  • Centralized employees (e.g., CST, accounting) possess access to all affiliates' data, while affiliates can solely view their own data within ThoughtSpot.

  • Batch data and Gross data are distinct and will be presented separately. Exercise caution while filtering attributes specific to one or the other to avoid

  • The nature of this dataset is transactional, not analytical. Information is recorded based on the day the transaction occurred, rather than being tied back to the date of the initial order
