Blueshift Messaging Reminders

Summary / TL:DR: This article outlines the steps to create a campaign trigger in Blueshift that reminds the customer of the previous email.

Overview

In some cases, you may want to remind a customer of the previous email they were sent, especially if they didn’t engage (open/click) with it. This can be helpful for retaining customers and improving engagement.

Email Template

You will need a separate email template to be used as your reminder. It is recommended to have a different subject line than the previous email as well as content that encourages the customer to engage. For example, you may want to direct the customer to your website to browse or read a recommended article.

Testing

This will take some testing to determine a format that will better capture the customers attention. To test, you can use the Blueshift A/B testing feature to test the Subject Line, Pre-Header, Sender Name, or the Entire Creative. Additionally, if you decide to create a separate One-Time Send campaign for the reminder, you can use Blueshift’s Automatic Winner Selection feature to determine which creative performed better amongst a test group.

Campaign Setup

Segment Triggered without A/B Testing

  1. Create a Segment Triggered campaign

  2. Select the desired Segment

  3. Create a new Email Trigger and select the first email to send to the customer

  4. Create a second Email Trigger and select the reminder template you created

  5. Add a desired delay

  6. Add filtering criteria to suppress users who engaged with the previous message (fig. 1)

  1. Create another One-Time Send campaign for the reminder email

  2. Select the Segment you crested in step 5

  3. Create an A/B Test based on the Entire Creative, select the percentage of the segment you would like to test with, select the optimization criteria, select the testing timeframe (1-24 hours) and then select the email template variation you would like to test with (fig. 4)

    1. In the example below, the A/B test is for the entire creative, 20% of the segment will get either variation 1 or variation 2 (50% split of those 20% of customers) and after 1 hour, whichever variation performed better based on the unique impression rate will be sent to the remaining 80% of the segment.
