Summary / TL:DR: This article will show you how to add/update a Promotion Narrative in Advantage. Depending on the alert type selected promotion narratives will add pop up text to promotion codes used at time of entry, and pop ups when a cancellation is entered. Scripts are used to decide which fields are displayed and which fields are hidden. There are lots of fields on the Promotions screen that are not needed for creating a promotion code. Common scripts include OTHER and CSP DEFAULT. These instructions use the NEWADD script, to see how to set a script, go here.
How to Add a Promotion Narrative
From the Marketing ribbon, click Promotions
Click Script
Select NEWADD
Click OK
Search for and highlight the Promotion Code that needs to have a narrative added/edited.
Click the Change button as below.
The Offer Code will be highlighted. Hit Return from here to get to the Promotion Detail section.
In the Promotion Detail section go to the section for Promotion Narrative as below.
Select a Narrative Type from the dropdown.
Enter the Narrative text in the Promotion Narrative entry box. Narrative Type options and descriptions are below.
Promotion Narrative | Enter additional information about the promotion code. | |
Narrative Type | Defines when a narrative will appear if entered on the promotion code. | |
| ALERT | With this option selected, an alert will appear when placing an order in Advantage. |
| CANCEL ALERT | With this option selected, an alert will appear if the order is canceled in Advantage. This will also appear when entering the promo code during order entry. |
| DEFAULT | With this option selected, the narrative will not act as an alert and the narrative will only be seen on the promotion codes. This option should not be used. |
7. Click away from the Promotion Narrative entry box and into any box that can have data entered into it and press Enter.
8. Once the narrative has been entered a pop up for the Narrative will appear when this promo code is entered on the Order Entry screen.
