Assigning space access is the 2nd step of a 2-step process for inviting guests into Confluence to collaborate with your team. The first step is to Invite guests to Confluence.

Not all teamwork happens inside the (sometimes virtual) walls of a single organization. Sometimes you need to partner with other companies to build integrations, work with agencies to bring marketing campaigns to life, bring in contractors and consultants to help get big projects over the line, and so on.

Guests are free of charge (up to 5 guests per paid user). Total number of users (paid + guests) can't exceed the current Confluence site user limit.

You may not convert current or former paid users to guests. The purpose behind the guest feature is to invite users outside of your organization.

Atlassian reserves the right to restrict your access to the feature if you’re not using it in compliance with this purpose and the guidelines outlined in Atlassian documentation. Atlassian also reserves the right to change the ratio of guests to paid users.

...

  1. Go to the space you’ve chosen for them.

  2. Select Space settings in the sidebar.

  3. In the Space permissions card, select General.

  4. Scroll to the Guest users section. If you don’t see your guest listed under Individual users, then select Edit Permissions.

  5. In the edit view, make sure you’re looking at the Individual users part of the Guest users section, then find the search bar titled Search for guest users.

  6. Type in your guest’s name, select them, and select Add.

  7. Select Save all at the bottom of the page.
