Personas and Upskilling
The personas as described below are intended to help you understand:Â

What tools are available to you to optimize your current place in your data literacy journeyÂ
With whom you should collaborate to realize the greatest value from your dataÂ
Your potential for upskilling yourself and your businessÂ
Subject Matter Expert (SME)Â
It is first important to understand your role within your organization. Not everyone needs to become an expert in BI tools or understand the depths of reporting logic and caveats. As a marketer, copywriter, renewals specialist, operations specialist, etc., you bring your own unique skillset, knowledge, and contributions to the data literacy table. Â
It is also important to understand what skills you DO NOT have, so that you can seek out the appropriate SMEs to tell meaningful stories and take valuable action with your data. Â
ConsumerÂ
You are a data consumer if you value data insights but rely on others to present reports and data stories to you. As a consumer, you may not frequent our world-class BI tools like Qlik and Thoughtspot. If you do visit these tools, you may employ filters in a limited capacity and rely on others to explain report logic and definitions. You should use Guided Analytics when assessing Key Reports. You are informed. Â
ExplorerÂ
You are a data explorer if you are comfortable navigating key BI dashboards and liveboards in Qlik and Thoughtspot. You can take a business question and engage the proper report to uncover answers and make decisions. You are able to identify trends and anomalies in the data you explore. You may not be proficient in the depths of reporting logic but are aware enough to ask questions and collaborate with others to confirm your doubts. You should use Guided Analytics and explore Self-Service Key Reports. You are curious and self-informed. Â
BuilderÂ
You are a data builder if you are comfortable building Thoughtspot answers and liveboards from scratch. You understand data set logic and caveats enough to create reports that answer questions unique to your role and/or business. You know what you do not know and consult SMEs and BI to ensure your reports are optimized to answer your business questions. You can use tables and graphs to build and tell meaningful data stories. You are primarily using Self-Service reports. You are an advanced and critical thinker with skills to boot. Â
Power UserÂ
You are a power user and a data leader within your organization. You can both build at an advanced level and advise your organization and BI on valuable data initiatives. You play an active role in training and upskilling resources within your organization. You ensure your organization’s data asks drive business value and actionable insights. You are a data champion for our business. Â
