Interest Alerts for Email and SMS

Summary / TL:DR: We subscribe users to interest topics when they become active in a subscription and opt to receive email or SMS fulfillment.


Email

When a customer becomes active on a subscription and chooses email delivery for their fulfillment, we will subscribe the customer to an interest topic that uses the sms list code as the value. If the list code is defined as ABC the topic will be ABC. If the list code is defined as ABC_SMS the topic will be ABC_SMS.


SMS

When an active customer subscribes and opts into fulfillment SMS, we will subscribe the customer to an interest topic that uses the sms list code as the value but we also prefix “SMS_” to differentiate between an email and sms interest alert subscribe. If the list code is defined as ABC the topic will be SMS_ABC. If the list code is defined as ABC_SMS the topic will be SMS_ABC_SMS.

Wrap up

A customer will be subscribed to an email or sms interest alert topic based on if they opt into that type of fulfillment.
