Ideal If You…

Pros

Cons

1

  • Create replica journeys in WMC

  • Bulk update domains

  • Have a lot of efforts/don’t want to update every effort

  • Have a lot of offers/don’t want to update the offers in IRIS

  • Less updates in IRIS

  • Don’t need to update the domain of every single effort

  • No downtime with the transition from OPIUM to WMC

  • Discovery/QA required upfront

  • Need to review all the efforts tied to the domain/item and coordinate creation of WMC journeys before making any domain changes

  • Potential for mismatched domains as part of bulk change

    • Would need to be sure that all the journeys tied to the efforts with this assigned domain have been set up in WMC with the SAME URL nickname that was used in OPIUM. If something doesn’t exist, there will be an error

2

  • Create journeys in WMC

  • Retire OPIUM offers in IRIS

  • Redirect to WMC journey, bulk

  • Bulk update domains

  • Have a lot of efforts/don’t want to update every effort

  • Don’t want to use the same offer and set up a journey that has an identical url nickname in WMC as OPIUM

  • Less updates in IRIS

  • Don’t need to update the domain of every single effort

  • May be some down time for the order forms between retiring the offers and switching the domains – should be minimal

  • Discovery/QA required upfront

  • Need to review all the efforts tied to the domain/item and coordinate creation of WMC journeys before making any domain changes

3

  • Update domains on the individual effort level

  • Don’t want to do a lot of discovery/QA upfront to organize what you’re going to migrate

  • Note: Most manual option

  • Don’t need to worry about mismatched domains as part of a bulk change – won’t be editing the domain configurations in IRIS

  • Less discovery/QA upfront

  • More IRIS work - need to update each individual effort

  • Note: same amount of work in WMC as options 1 and 2

...

  • Decide what domains you’re going to tackle

  • Create WMC journeys to replace OPIUM efforts (names irrelevant)

    • When taking inventory of what you need to create, keep in mind:

      • The url nickname in IRIS for an OPIUM offer typically only references the beginning of the sales funnel. From there, links are included in the html to incorporate cross sells, upsells, dependent content, etc.

      • Unlike OPIUM, WMC journeys will include ALL the components of an offer

  • Retire the OPIUM offer in IRIS and select desired WMC journey name/url nickname

    • Note: you can set an expiration date in the future, so you’ll want to coordinate that with the date and time you’re planning to switch over the domain to limit downtime

    • You’ll need to make sure all applicable WMC journeys are created, and all OPIUM offers are set to expire BEFORE updating the domain

  • Update domains. There are two primary options for bulk updating domains:

    • Option 1: Edit actual domain in IRIS (manage – domains) so that it points to a WMC domain

      • Good option if you don’t have default domains assigned at the item level

      • Steps:

        • Edit order from url

        • No change to:

          • Name

          • Promotion URL

          • External promo url

    • Option 2: Edit default configuration on the item level so that it points to a WMC domain – this will update all efforts where that is the main item

      • Good option if you:

        • Have default domains assigned at the item level AND

        • Have 1:1 relationship between the item and domain

          • If you have multiple domains per item, then additional adjustments will need to be made for bulk update to be successful – and option 1 may be more ideal

      • Steps:

        • Edit the default configuration on the item level so that it points to selected WMC domain

        • This will automatically update all efforts where that is the main item
